One of the books I recently re-read was "Seeds of Sensitivity, Deepening Your Spiritual Life" by Robert J. Wicks. The last chapter is entitled Piercing the Darkness which I thought was apt for the season of Advent in the midst of the current Covid-19 pandemic and is the inspiration for these daily Advent posters (or should I call them, in today's cyber lingo, Advent memes?!).
Here is an excerpt from the chapter:
"Rather than giving in to the natural tendencies to avoid the darkness that we experience in our own hearts and the world at large, facing it is of great value in these times. While we may not be able to prevent life's storm from chilling our soul, we must do what we can. And if it is being done in the correct spirit, it will join us with others seeking to do the right thing and, of ultimate importance, it will join us with the living God who is the source of real peace, our peace. ...The darkness we experience in life often tells just as much about us as it does about what we feel is its cause. Much of what we face that we find dark and difficult unfortunately is partly of our own doing in this world."
As we confront our interior demons in prayer and reflection this Advent season, may we allow the Light of Christ to pierce through our darkness and lead us to a new dawn in our lives and a renewal of spirit.
A blessed Advent to one and all! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
